Similar Artist- Andra Day
I decided to look at Rise Up as it is a heartfelt R&B song with Andra Days big voice. I would firstly like to point out that the song was released as acoustic, audio and an 'inspirational' version. I will be looking at the latter. The video opens into narrative with diegetic sound this helps grab the viewers attention. We then see the artist enter looking glam and she sings the first verse showing her vocals and getting the message across. She is in natural surroundings looking 'naturally glam'. We are shown a different side of the typical love story in this video which is like our own video. I have also noticed that when there are big vocals there is usually big hair and big makeup to match. Look at Adele and Amy Whinehouse.
