Genre R+B
R&B can be categorised into two genres- Rhythm and Blues or Rhythm and Bass (the more modern of the two).
Rhythm and Blues originated from the US in the 1940s. The term was used to describe the urban sound. The genre was influenced by Jazz, Gospel and obviously Blues.
Many R&B videos consist of dancing, performing and most commonly a love storyline. However with the newer sounds evolving in R&B, the videos are becoming more controversial and exposing women more.
Like a boy by Ciara contradicts this beautifully.
For the video she was dressed in the outfit of a stereotypical male in an R&B video. She is trying to portray the message that women are equal to men. I really liked the way she has done this and it would be perfect for our video as it is the message we are trying to portray ourselves.
